Heroic Dad Dives Into Ocean To Save Daughter After She Falls Overboard On Disney Cruise
A father jumped into the ocean to rescue his daughter after she fell overboard on a Disney Cruise.
According to eyewitnesses and news reports, the young girl fell off of the 4th floor deck of the Disney Dream cruise ship on June 29 as the boat was sailing between the Bahamas and South Florida.
Multiple passengers caught the scary incident on video. The ship’s crew responded quickly to the emergency.
“Her dad went in after her,” passenger Kevin Furuta wrote on the unofficial Disney Dream Cruise Ship Facebook group. “Right after the incident, we heard on the loudspeaker, ‘MOB [Man overboard] Port side!! Thankfully, the [Disney] rescue team was on it immediately and both were saved!”
“We commend our Crew Members for their exceptional skills and prompt actions, which ensured the safe return of both guests to the ship within minutes,” Disney Cruise Line said afterwards.
Passengers watched as the crew threw out life preservers and the dad and daughter were pulled out of the water and then whisked back on board. Bystanders erupted into applause as the family returned onboard.
It’s unclear how the daughter fell overboard. Thankfully, the young girl and her father reportedly are uninjured.
Many travellers crowded the deck to witness the rescue.
Passengers agree that the father’s actions are to be commended. Passenger Tracy Robinson-Hughes wrote, “Oh my God, that’s a dad that needs to have a hero. He’s a hero. He jumped in to save his child. He’s a hero, he’s a hero, that man is a hero.”
