A tiny sick puppy is lucky to be alive after the bed she was dumped in was spotted by a woman driving by. Judy Oberon regularly visits the Echo Lake Park in Fort Worth, Texas. That’s because the animal rescuer and founder of ≈ (TAO) knows the area is a notorious dog dumping ground.
On this particular day in late April, Judy was thinking of not going because she was feeling sick. But it was a very good thing she did.
While driving around, she saw a small plush dog house on the side of the road.
She decided to check it out, and as she approached it, she saw it move.
“Oh my gosh,” she said in the video she shot while she approached it, “there’s something in here.”
As she got closer and pulled down the fluffy interior, a tiny puppy suddenly poked her head out!
Judy immediately lifted the dog out and brought her to her car.
The little puppy immediately felt comfortable with Judy, and gave her rescuer a kiss.
The tiny dog must have been abandoned because of her mange. At only 10-weeks-old she weighed just 3 pounds.
“She has the sweetest soul with her soulful eyes,” Obregon wrote. And that’s how she came to choose the dog’s name: Najila, which means “eyes that glisten” in Arabic. “I wanted to find a name that meant something.”
Najila is feeling so much better now after getting medicated baths, proper food and lots of affection.
“She’s just precious,” Judy said.
She also added that Najila loves belly rubs.
Najila is now with her foster family and when she’s fully recovered she will be available for adoption.
