Squirrel With Broken Arm Gets Woman To Look After Her Babies

A few years ago, workers cut down a tree outside Erica’s home, orphaning three baby squirrels. Erica stepped in to care for them, hoping to reunite the babies with their mother. When the mother never returned to the area, Erica began raising them herself.

Eventually, Erica released the squirrels back outside. Two moved away, but one — whom she named Sarah Connor — stayed close and has become her “little buddy.” Sarah has never shown any aggression toward Erica and often waits for her to come home from work.

Now four years old, Sarah has had five litters of babies, all of which she has raised in Erica’s backyard. Erica says Sarah is very trusting and keeps her babies in the outdoor enclosure Erica set up. On many occasions, Sarah has even brought her babies to Erica to babysit while she goes off to do her own thing! Recently, when Sarah broke her arm, she took the extra step and brought Erica to her babies because she couldn’t bring them to her herself. Erica set the family up in the enclosure and is nursing them all back to health.
