Firefighters Rescue Dog Baking In Hot Car

It’s so very sad to see another dog left in a hot car, this time in Sacramento, California. Thankfully, the Sacramento Fire Department received a call from a concerned citizen and arrived to rescue the dog. While filming, they noted the outside temperature was 95.5°F, making the temperature inside the car much higher. To put that in perspective, any temperature over 105°F (38°C) in a car is extremely dangerous to a dog.

The fire department wrote on their Facebook page: “The crew from Sacramento Fire Department Engine 4 removed a dog from a locked car this morning. Sacramento Animal Control took the dog to a shelter, and the owner will be cited.

Please remember: Don’t leave your dog in a car on a hot day. Besides the obvious negative effect on the dog, fines can be up to $500. In a worst case scenario, the charge would be felony animal cruelty, which carries a stiff penalty. Please take your dogs with you when you lock up, or leave them at home.”

Bad job, owner. Good job Engine 4!

Police in Roswell filmed a similar video recently, when they rescued an elderly dog from a hot car in a parking lot.
