Russia Gifts France A Puppy In Honor Of Diesel The Police Dog

Russia has sent France a puppy as a gift and a gesture of solidarity after the police dog named Diesel was killed in the line of duty while on a raid against the terrorists involved in the attacks in Paris.

The Belgian Malinois puppy is named Dobrynia after a Russian folklore hero who demonstrated bravery, goodness, and strength.

“This dog will be handed to France in a testament of solidarity with the French people,” the Russian Interior Ministry tweeted on Friday.

The Instagram image below shows a photo of the letter from Russia’s Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokolstsev to France’s Minister of Internal Affairs Bernard Kaznevu offering their sympathy. He also states that he hopes Dobrynia will be able to take Diesel’s place in the ranks.

Diesel was killed by a suicide bomber after police raided an apartment in the outskirts of Paris. French National Police called Diesel’s role in the operation “indispensable”. She was 7 years old.

After her death, people took to social media to honor the police dog’s sacrifice under the hashstag #JeSuisChien and #JeSuisDiesel.

Whether or not Dobrynia ends up joining the ranks of service, I’m sure he will be treasured by the French National Police.

Share this thoughtful gift and the news with your friends and family!
