Orphaned Kitten Persuades Street Dog Who Lost Her Puppies To Adopt Her

An orphaned kitten and a dog who just lost her pups have found solace with each other in war-torn Syria.

Amira is a street dog who was living near Il Gattaro d’Aleppo (“The Cat Man of Aleppo”), a cat sanctuary in Syria. The founder of the sanctuary, Mohammad Alaa Jaleel (AKA Alaa), took Amira into his home, although he didn’t let her into the sanctuary with 80 cats for the animals’ safety.

Alaa wanted to make sure Amira gave birth in a comfortable environment, but sadly when she finally gave birth, none of her puppies were born alive.

Everyone was saddened by Amira’s tragedy, but none more so that Amira herself. They gave her some stuffed animals to cuddle to help her cope with her loss.

Meanwhile, at his sanctuary, a new arrival also had just lost her family. A kitten named Junior was found living alone on the streets and brought to live at Il Gattaro d’Aleppo.

One day, Junior caught sight of Amira cuddling with a teddy bear near the entrance of the sanctuary.

Junior went over to Amira and crawled on top of her. The kitten wanted to play.

To the surprise and delight of of staff, Junior has cheered up the grieving dog.

“We found them together,” Abidin, Alaa’s friend who runs the private Facebook group for Il Gattaro d’Aleppo, told The Dodo. “And the kitten was riding her [Amira], and she is completely fine. She even seemed to smile.”

Now whenever Amira comes for one of her frequent visits, Junior is there to greet her and the two of them do everything together including sharing food and taking naps.

It’s heartwarming to see two animals who desperately needed a friend found that friendship with one another. Share this story of these unexpected friends with your friends and family!
