Mother’s Touch Revives Her Dying Baby Boy

Karen and Brian Wollman were overjoyed when they learned they were expecting their third child. But their happiness turned to worry when an ultrasound revealed that their baby boy not only had Down Syndrome, but he also had hydrops, a condition which caused his body to swell with fluid.

Doctors told the Wollman’s that their infant child would likely be stillborn. “They told us that, but in my heart you have to hold on to hope,” says Karen. At just 35 weeks, Renner was born by emergency C-section and needed immediate medical attention.

When his health took a downturn, doctors told the Wollman’s to prepare themselves and asked if they had any last wishes for their baby. Karen asked to hold Renner in her arms and rock him. And that’s what she did. She held him for four hours and little by little he got better. It was, in the doctor’s words, a “real miracle”.

I’ve heard of the power of a mother’s touch in reviving infants before and Renner’s story is just as remarkable!
