Davis spent 26 hours in the vet hospital when Jethro was shot. “He was a fighter,” Davis said as he fought back his tears. “He fought extremely hard… there came a time at the hospital when the vet told me with that look that there was nothing else they could do. I just needed to let him go be in peace.”

Jethro was just 3 years old and Davis says he got to come home because of Jethro’s sacrifice. At the ceremony, Davis became emotional when he was handed the American flag at the ceremony.
