Man Hustles Buyer After Selling Rusty Knife For $3, But Buyer Gets The Last Laugh

You never know what treasures you might find when you visit a thrift store. When Jun went to his local thrift shop he noticed a man trying to sell a rusty, old Japanese knife to the store owner for 30 cents.

But the store didn’t want the old blade. Jun asked the man if he would sell him the knife and the man said he wouldn’t sell it to him for less than $3.00. Jun was taken aback at the man hiking the price before selling it to him. But he bought it anyway, as he had hunch there was more to it than met the eye.

The man who sold him the knife laughed and walked away with a smile on his face. Jun knew he wanted to make the man regret his decision. So taking a whetstone, he set to work removing the rust and polishing the blade to restore it to its former glory.

The video he made has become unexpectedly viral, racking up more than 4 million views in just a few days! But when you watch him work at cleaning, sharpening, and then testing out the blade, you’ll be impressed by what his bargain find can do!

Yun did do some further investigating and learned that the knife he got is actually a 180mm Shirogami Steel usuba knife by Seki Magoroku worth $100!

“Shirogami steel is ‘white paper’ steel which is very pure carbon steel,” he explains. “It sells for a little over $100.” So Jun really did get a good deal after all! It’s always satisfying to see someone find a treasure.

Watch how he polishes the rusty, old knife and brings it back to “life”.

Note: and for those viewers that might be wondering, the leaf he slices isn’t weed, it’s a Japanese maple leaf. Plus he replaced the knife’s handle as it was in really poor condition and smelled horrible.
