Siberian Dog Loyally Waiting At Spot Where His Owner Died For Over A Year

A dog in Siberia has been living on the side of a highway for over a year, loyally waiting in the spot where his owner died in a car crash in 2014.

The dog has braved freezing temperatures and the dangers of the road to keep his steadfast vigil. The dog, who is being called the “Siberian Hachiko,” has survived thanks to the kindness of animal lovers in the nearby village of Berkut, who leave out food and try and provide him with shelter.

Animal activist Anastasia Selina said that rescuers are unable to get close to the dog because he doesn’t trust anyone who approaches him. But they are not giving up. “We haven’t been able to get anywhere near the animal, it only seems to want to get to its previous owner and as far as we know they didn’t survive the car accident,” she said.

The group of rescuers are advising people to stay clear of the dog as they are concerned he might run into traffic if he gets scared. The Daily Mail reported that a campaign is underway to find the dog a home and then catch him and bring him inside to safety. I hope their rescue efforts are successful!
