Foster Dog Cries In His Blanket Waiting For A Family Who Will Keep Their Word

A rescued Pit bull who just can’t seem to catch a lucky break now clings to his security blanket and cries in it, a heartbreaking video from his foster family revealed. That’s because King has given his heart to families several times in the past few years, only to have it broken. Now his rescuers are searching for a forever home that really will be forever. “He needs a forever home where he can be the center of attention and where he will never be returned again,” says the Greater Charlotte SPCA.

King’s story begins two years ago when his original owner turned him in to a North Carolina animal shelter. Luckily, King was pulled before he was euthanized, but a series of failed fosters at his first rescue lead him back to the shelter, and eventually into the Greater Charlotte SPCA  and the foster home of dog rescuer Roberta Sá Griner.

In his time with them, he went on many adoption dates and was adopted twice. However, both families gave up on him due to a changes in life circumstance “which led them to make the decision to return, even after we offered assistance” said the Charlotte SPCA. Unfortunately, this happened despite the rescue’s mandatory screening process, vet check and home visits.

“This is not a case of lack of screening, this is a case of people not sticking to their word,” commented the rescue. Fortunately, the families cared enough for King to return him  to the rescue when they could no longer care for him and did not dump him at the shelter again.

The string of bad luck has been hard on the 3-year-old dog.  “This is the hardest part, to see how sad King is because yet again his family dumped him. He won’t let go of that blanket that came from them. You can hear him cry,” wrote Roberta when she shared the following sad video on Facebook.

Now, she and the Greater Charlotte SPCA are hoping that the right, local family finds it in their heart to give him a permanent home.

“We want nothing more than the best for King and even though we’ve done everything we can to help him and advocate for him, we haven’t found the forever home that we promised him yet, but we will,” the Greater Charlotte SPCA commented on Facebook.

King is a big fella (around 80 pounds) and his rescuers say his size is equally matched by his big heart. “He is a confident and independent dog who is very comfortable with himself, which makes him well-balanced and non-reactive in almost any situation. King is also great with other dogs and knows how to be gentle when playing with the other dogs.”

“He never gets into stuff if left outside of his crate and he is fully housebroken,” says Roberta and he loves to run. He’s also extremely well behaved and knows his commands.

Pupdate: King has been ADOPTED!
