Fishermen Stunned After White Beaver Dives Under Their Boat

Canadian Dennis Jackson was out fishing with a neighbor near Ottawa when the pair had a wildlife encounter he’s calling thrilling and one he never would have imagined in a million years. A massive white beaver appeared in the water and dove under their boat! They were in complete disbelief.

The white animal swam close to them before heading to shore. Jackson later told CBC News that they both felt shivers go up and down their spines. They knew they had seen something truly unique.

Jackson returned to the lake with Canadian naturalist Michael Runtz, who, upon spotting the beaver, noted that its color is a rare genetic condition—not albinism. “With true albinism, you can’t produce any dark pigmentation, so the eyes are always pink, so I would say that’s a leucistic beaver,” Runtz said.

The sighting has wowed wildlife enthusiasts, who are heading to the area in hopes of spotting the rare white animal themselves. Joe Wilson shared a video of the beaver, writing, “We came across this very rare beaver while out shooting wildlife along a waterway in Ontario yesterday. We spotted something large and white swimming under the water towards the boat. An incredible sight for the very short time it surfaced.”
