Every day, Chi Krneta rides the bus for 50 minutes on her way to work. Recently, she decided to put that commute time to good use. Chi decided she would crochet her wedding dress! For 5 months straight, she worked on it.
Her idea came to her as a way to save money and honor her grandmother, who had taught her the technique.
“I made this on the bus during my work commute,” she shared on reddit. “I crocheted my lace wedding dress on the bus during my work commute for about 5 months. The dress is a pattern I designed with a commonly used pineapple stitch.”
“The dress was practically free because I didn’t spend much money on it (under $30 for all of the materials including fabric for the lining) and I didn’t spend much extra time on it.”
“My commute time couldn’t be used for anything else anyway. The dress is also machine washable (I’ve washed it several times), doesn’t wrinkle or need any special care, and I plan on wearing it again with linings of different colors and with the train bustled up in different ways.”

In all, she said she spent only $30 on the dress! But for her, the endeavour had great significance and made her wedding more personal to her.
Chi included more of her crochet process in the stop-motion video below.
What a fantastic way to use your commute time! Be sure to share her amazing dress with your family and friends!
