Hundreds of Thirsty Cattle Swarm Water Truck in Drought-Stricken Australia

Hundreds of thirsty cows swarm a water truck, revealing the harrowing impact of Australia’s biggest drought in decades.

The startling drone footage shot in New South Wales shows the cows circling around the truck to get a drink after the regular water stocks dried up.

Farmer Amber Lea of Burrabogie Livestock and Contracting oversees 1,300 head of cattle and says they won’t have anything to drink unless she makes an hour-long commute to collect water with her truck.

“Watering points on the river or allocated watering troughs were too low, or the mills had stopped pumping and there was no supply,” she said via Storyful.

“The tanker and trough was the only source of water for the cattle we were carting 100,000 litres of water every day for their survival, often having to drive 50 to 70 kms one way to get water for them,” the farmer told Storyful.

Scientists are saying that the current drought in the country could become one of the worst droughts in 400 years. The effects of the dry weather are hitting the agricultural industry the hardest. The footage was captured on August 4, 2018, but drought conditions are persisting through to present day.
