Amazing Story Behind The Budweiser Baby Clydesdales

For over 80 years, Budweiser Clydesdales have been part of the beverage maker’s brand. But I was surprised to learn just how involved they are in the upbringing and care of these magnificent horses. In fact, Budweiser has a multi-million dollar operation of their own that is devoted to breeding, raising and training them.

You’ll meet Jeff Knapper, who helms the stables in Warm Springs Ranch in Booneville, Missouri and takes care of the daily needs of 175 Clydesdales around the country. For him, it’s more than just a job to him, the horses are his life. And there’s John Soto, who watches after all the pregnant mares.

As the video goes on to explain, only males are eligible to become a Budweiser Clydesdale that pulls the hitches at public events. But that doesn’t mean the females aren’t part of the legacy like the young foal you’ll meet, who went on to be featured in Budweiser’s 2013 award-winning Super Bowl XLVII commercial. It’s also amazing to see their foaling area and learn what happens when the babies are born!
