Bomb Sniffer Dog Gets Awesome Surprise Retirement Gift

An explosive detection canine got a delightful surprise as a retirement gift on his last day working with the TSA.

A video of the moment shows the dog going for one last bag search before being rewarded in the most awesome way.

Mark Howell, TSA Regional Spokesperson, shared the video on Twitter and wrote, “After more than 8 years of service @INDairport, @TSA explosive detection canine TTirado has officially retired.”

This is what happened during that last bag search (see video below):

“Who’s a good boy!? TTirado is! Happy Retirement little man,” one viewer tweeted. “He has a full retirement stock of new tennis balls,” shared another.

Howell added, “TTirado was also one of our longest-serving @TSA canines— having graduated in the third class of screening canines at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX in 2012.”

He let everyone know that TTirado has been adopted by his handler Keith Gray. From the looks of some other photos Howell shared on Twitter, TTirado is already enjoying his retirement.

TTirado is named after 30-year-old former EMT and Army veteran Hector Luis Tirado, who lost his life in 9/11.

“If you’re wondering about the strange spelling of Ttirado’s name, the double first letter signifies that the canine was named after a 9/11 victim. In this case, Ttirado was named after Hector Luis Tirado, FDNY Engine 23,” the TSA explained several years ago.

With TTirado’s video going viral, Keith Gray wanted to thank everyone for their outpouring of support.

Bonus video: Several years ago, TTirado starred in another video that went viral – of him snoring after a long day’s work! Check it out below.
