Strangers Help Give Autistic Boy Birthday To Remember After No One Shows Up

A 6-year-old autistic boy was devastated when not one of this classmates invited to his birthday party showed up. He was so upset, his mom, Ashlee Buratti of St. Cloud, Florida, said he refused to smile. Ashlee was understandably upset when she had to explain to her son, Glenn, that none of his “friends” from school were coming.

She felt she had failed him and turned to Facebook and wrote a post about how badly she felt for Glenn: “I know this might be something silly to rant about, but my heart is breaking for my son,” she told members of the Osceola Rants Raves & Reviews List. “We invited his whole class (16 kids) over for his 6th birthday party today. Not one kid came.”

Almost immediately she got responses from complete strangers and soon kids and their parents began arriving with gifts. Ashlee’s post was also seen by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, who sent a very special gift for Glenn – a helicopter fly-over. Glen was smiling the whole time.

His party wasn’t over that day either. Later in the week, sheriff’s deputies stopped by with squad cars, motorcycles, and a SWAT vehicle for Glenn to check out and the fire department brought a fire truck!

What could have ended up being a heartbreaking day was completely turned around by the kindness of strangers.
