You’ll Never Believe What’s Inside This Wooden Structure … It’s Made By Hand and Awesome!

There’s something magical inside this pavilion. It is called the “Wooden Net” and it’s the largest wooden structure built in Japan.

When you go inside there’s a playground unlike any other I’ve ever seen!

The playground sculpture was created by artist Toshiko Horiuchi-MacAdam.

It’s completely crocheted by hand and it took Toshiko about a year to complete.

She designed it especially for children to climb in, crawl in, roll around, and swing on.

It took her about a year to complete and it has been enjoyed by children for over a decade now.

The wooden structure is also pretty amazing.

It was built without any mechanical fasteners and was engineered to transfer the loading from the net perfectly. It’s located at the Hakone Open-Air Museum.

After seeing these photos, I can understand why it’s called “Wonder Space II” and is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Japan! It’s so colorful and vibrant and truly a unique work of art.
