Rejected No Longer: Snuffles The Dog With The Unique Nose Finally Finds A Loving Forever Home!

A homeless puppy named Snuffles is repeatedly being rejected by potential adopting because he has a unique facial feature – two noses. The Belgian Shepherd mix actually has one nose which didn’t properly fuse together before he was born, so each nostril is separate. Snuffles can move each nostril independently.

His unique appearance is making it hard for him to find a permanent home, as no one seems to want an unique looking dog. He was only four months old when he arrived at The Dogs Trust Glasgow Rehoming Centre in Scotland and had previous stays at four other shelters.

The center’s manager Sandra Lawton said, “It is such a shame to think that this sweet-natured lad may not find the loving home he deserves just because he may not be considered a pretty pooch.” She adds that he is affectionate, energetic and fun-loving. “He may not have been blessed with the looks of Lassie but he has a heart of gold and really can claim to be a dog in several million.”

The charity is currently campaigning to help find him a home.

Update: Thanks to the incredible number of people who shared his story, Snuffles has found a loving forever home! Snuffles’ new family lives in East Lothian and has a large house on an acre of land. The five-month-old puppy will be going home with his new family next week.

Update 2: After his story went viral, Snuffles was sent to live with a new family. Unfortunately, the new home didn’t work out and Snuffles is AGAIN homeless and hoping to find humans who will love him for who he is, split nose and all. Prospective adopters should contact The Dog’s Trust Glasgow Centre through their website here.

Update 3: Snuffles is still hoping to find a forever home. Dogs Trust Glasgow says that potential adopters need to be able to make multiple visits to Dogs Trust Glasgow so will ideally live within 20 miles of the center. Additionally, Dogs Trust say that they would love Snuffles to find a home with another dog.

Update 4 (April 8, 2014): We just received a message from Emma Livingstone of Dogs Trust Glasgow with the BEST news! Snuffles has finally found a loving forever home!
