90-Year-Old Tortoise Gets New Lease On Life After Losing Her Front Legs

A 90-year-old tortoise named Mrs. T was quietly hibernating this past winter when she was viciously attacked by a rat who broke into her hutch.

Her owner, Jude Ryder was horrified when she discovered her injured pet and rushed the tortoise to the vet. Unfortunately, nothing could be done to save Mrs. T’s front legs, the U.K.’s Telegraph reported.

Her future was looking bleak, until Jude’s son, Ryder came up with a creative solution. Ryder, a mechanical engineer, designed a type of wheelchair using a set of model air craft wheels.

He says the wheels have the added bonus of “turbo charging” her speed – Mrs T. can walk at double the speed she used to. And as she could live for another 50 years, the wheels were just what the doctor ordered! Watch the video below to see Mrs. T. in action.
