Abused Shelter Dog Has Unexpected Impact On The Life Of One Vietnam Veteran

Ruth Ann went to a shelter a few years ago to find the perfect, female small, white-haired dog. She came back with Thunder. An 80 pound Shepherd-Husky mix who had been abused and neglected. Little did she know, that Thunder would become not only a beloved pet, but also her husband Larry’s lifeline.

Larry is a Vietnam veteran who suffers the effects of agent orange. After suffering several strokes, Larry’s doctors told him he needed a service dog. Rather than get a new dog, Ruth Ann and Larry decided to retrain Thunder and it ended up being a decision that positively impacted their lives. The video chronicles Larry and Thunder’s friendship and how no other pet has ever come as close to Larry as Thunder.
