Little Ginnie was hiding behind a dumpster when Lisa Chiarelli and Eldad Hagar of Hope For Paws came to rescue her.
The tiny spaniel mix puppy was terrified of humans and growled and snarled when they tried to approach her with a leash. She barked and attempted to flee.
Eldad wrote on Flickr, “Ginnie freaked out…she cried, screamed, peed out of fear, and I was amazed that none of the neighbors around didn’t even bother to look out the window to see what’s happening to the animal that was clearly in distress.”
They tried to negotiate with her and finally managed to put a leash over her. They waited for her to calm down before wrapping her in a cozy blanket and whisking her off to the hospital.
Eldad took Ginnie to a quiet room where she could be comforted before being given a bath and be vetted.
Ginnie is now being fostered by the trainer at Doggies 911 Rescue. At 6 pounds and 6 months old, she’s charming everyone she meets.
“She is cute as a button, very petite and calm in nature for a pup her age!” Doggies 911 Rescue writes. “She is much more adorable in person and gets most of the attention at our adoption events.”
She is learning how to walk on a leash, get along with other dogs and how to trust humans again. So far she’s doing great!
Ginnie is looking for a loving home for the Holidays! If you are interested and live in the San Pedro, California area, visit the Doggies 911 website.
