Boy Bullies Blind Kid Prompting Heroic Teen To Intervene

A schoolyard fight that broke out between students at Huntington Beach High School in California was caught on video and has since gone viral because of what was depicted.

The video shows a male student slapping and punching another male student, who is partially blind. A third student, junior Cody Pine, rushes over to the blind student’s defense and knocks the bully to the ground.

As the bully’s friends start to confront Pine, he yells at the boy he hit, who is motionless on the ground, “Trying to [expletive] jump a blind kid, bro!”

He then yells at the alleged attacker’s friends, “He’s punching a [expletive] blind kid, bro!”

As he walks away shielding the victim, the hero turns back and says, “I swear to God, if you [expletive, expletive] with this kid again, I will [expletive] you up!”

Pine’s actions have been applauded by most of the students at the school. “A lot of people are calling him a hero,” Maya Jensen, a Huntington Beach High School student, told CBS Los Angeles, “And I would as well. For stepping in when no one else did and decide to just film it instead.”

After learning about the fight, school resource officers, detectives and school officials investigated the incident. Students told officials that the visually impaired student was attacked for no reason.

After completing their investigation Huntington Beach Police announced an arrest of the alleged bully, who was later released to his parents. They wrote in a statement, “The victim and suspect know each other and have a history of not getting along. Yesterday the victim walked past the suspect and they got into an argument. At that time, the suspect punched the victim several times and that is when the third student intervened and struck the suspect to prevent any further attack on the victim.”

Police added that they did not anticipate arresting the victim or Pine.

Pine told news outlets that he really didn’t want to hurt the [suspect] but wanted to make sure his friend was okay.
