Restaurant Will Likely Get Your Order Wrong, But For A Very Good Reason

A restaurant in Tokyo told diners up front that they may not get what they ordered. That’s because the pop-up restaurant hired waiters with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Named “The Restaurant of Order Mistakes”, its mission was to help change people’s perception about those who suffer from the brain disease.

The pop-up restaurant was open only for a couple of days, but diners had an enjoyable experience even if the waiters got their orders wrong.

Food blogger Mizuho Kudo tweeted about her experience, saying she ordered a hamburger but got gyoza dumplings instead. She didn’t mind one bit, and the food was delicious and everyone was smiling and having lots of fun.

According to spoon&tamago, the pop-up restaurant is the brainchild of Maggie’s Tokyo, an organization that helps families impacted by cancer. They wanted the dining experience to change people’s perspective on dementia sufferers and help people recognize that people with dementia can be functioning members of society.

With the trial period over, the group says they are planning for The Restaurant of Order Mistakes to return in September for World Alzheimer’s Day.

Share this wonderful idea with your family and friends.
