Powder was found abandoned in the middle of the Florida Everglades, a place where pets cannot survive very long because of the harsh conditions. The puppy was curled up on a ball and shutting down when the Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived to help him. The deputies gave him food and water and the pup slowly responded to their kindness.
The poor puppy’s eyes were terribly infected and his body riddled with mange. His condition was so bad, he needed help walking to get to the car. Sandra Dezelen, the founder of Dezzy’s Second Chance Animal Rescue also responded and agreed to take Powder into her rescue’s care.
Sandra actually brought a vet in the car with her to pick him up and he was immediately rushed to an eye surgeon. “Hopefully soon he will go in to have both eyes operated on,” the rescue writes, but they are waiting a few weeks until his infections to die down before proceeding. Powder has a long road to recovery ahead of him, but he is in good hands now!
