Moving Company Help Domestic Violence Victims Move For Free

For many years, Meathead Movers has quietly been helping victims of domestic violence, offering their moving services to families for free. The company has partnered with many shelters in Fresno, California and recently announced that it has partnered with the nonprofit Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women & Children to help at-risk families move out of dangerous situations.

“We know how hard it is to pack up someone’s life and move it to a new location – but it’s unimaginable to think about a woman and her children trying to pack up all their belongings and flee before the abuser returns home,” Aaron Steed, president and CEO of Meathead, told LA Weekly.

The company was founded by Steed and his brother, Evan, back in 1997 to help them make some cash while in school. The company still employs predominantly student athletes.

“Since we quietly began offering this service in 1999 we vowed to do this in every market we serve. We partner with a number of organizations across the state, and those folks are true angels,” the company wrote on their Facebook page.

“A few people have wondered if we will offer the same service to male victims of abuse and the answer is simple: absolutely! Any victim, regardless of gender, is one too many, and we want to do what we can to support anyone in an untenable situation. We take our cues from our partner organizations as far identifying victims to receive these moves. Due to the sensitivity of these situations, specifics on these moves are not something we are able to discuss in detail.”

While assisting Marjaree Mason Center they helped four Fresno families in just one week. It shows how much their services are truly in demand!

“We are so hopeful that this will help other businesses think creatively about how they can help victims of domestic violence,” the company said.
