Marine Separated From His Military Dog Has His Prayer Answered

When Lance Corporal Andrew Harmon served overseas in Afghanistan a couple of years ago he became very attached to a Labrador Retriever named Rebel. Rebel helped him search for IEDs and the military dog protected soldiers from several bombs.

However, after Rebel suffered a blow to the head from an explosion, the dog retired and went back to the United States to live with a woman in North Carolina.

Harmon returned home to his wife and new baby girl and although he was very happy to be home, he always thought about Rebel. “I just prayed a lot for the dog. I was like, ‘God, I hope one day I get to see him again,’” Harmon told WIST TV. That’s when fate stepped in and answered his prayer.

When Rebel’s former owner could not afford to treat a tumor in Rebel’s knee, she called Harmon and Harmon welcomed Rebel into his family with open arms. He began a fundraising campaign and raised almost enough to cover Rebel’s medical bills and Rebel was treated.

Harmon cannot describe how happy he is to have his buddy back with him. Rebel’s only been back for a short time but they are already helping each other cope with PTSD-induced nightmares. “We get to hold each other in the middle of the night.”

I’m so glad these two were able to reunite! Share this heartwarming story with your friends!
