Although Lt. Dan has some feeling in his hind legs, he is going to many veterinarians and neurologists to figure out what exactly is wrong with his legs. What they do know so far is he has some degree of both orthopedic and neurologic abnormalities.

Initial x-rays show that he has some nerve damage and a pelvic problem, but there’s hope that surgery may be able to help him.

While he is going for his consults, he is still getting plenty of time to socialize and play.

He loves his big foster brother, Josh the Pit Bull, who also is a special needs dog just like him.

Lt. Dan isn’t ready for adoption just yet. His rescuers want to ensure that he has more diagnostics done so that they know what Lt. Dan’s long term care needs will be. “Once we have a better handle on his prognosis he will be available for adoption,” they write.

Until then, he’s in more than capable hands and getting lots of love!

Bialy’s Wellness Foundation is sponsoring Lt. Dan’s care. The group helps dogs like Lt. Dan and Josh get the physical rehabilitation they need to optimize their lives! If you would like to help them care for Lt. Dan, you can visit their website.
