Lost Dogs Come Running After Their Family Cook Sausages Near The Spot They Went Missing

Two lost dogs are back home with their family after their humans came up with a unique idea of how to find them – they cooked sausages in the place they went missing. Liz and Graham Hampson did everything they could to locate their missing dogs, Charlie and Theo, after the miniature schnauzers got lost in the park. Their son, John, had taken them for a walk in the mountainous area of Red Pike fell in the English Lake District, near Buttermere, Cumbria when a sudden, thick fog had rolled in, The Independent UK reports.

The family asked for help on social media and more than 120 people and two drones joined the search for the dogs. But after four days of searching, the dogs were still nowhere to be found. Liz and Graham were devastated but they refused to give up. Instead, they decided to camp out in the spot the dogs had disappeared and cooked sausages.

The schnauzers absolutely love sausages, so the couple thought the familiar smell of their favorite snack might lure them back – and it did!

“When they first appeared it was like a mirage. I could not believe it was them,” Liz told the news outlet. “My husband ran up the hill to grab them as I was just shaking and crying. I could not function.”

“They absolutely love sausages,” said Liz. “They have them every Sunday for breakfast, so if there was one food they were going to come back for, it was sausages.”

What a genius idea! I’m so happy they family was reunited. Liz and Graham’s idea is similar to a popular tip from a man who lost his dog, to leave a familiar scented item out in the area where a dog gets lost.

Please share this happy ending with the dog lovers you know!
