Man Who Helped Stranded Drivers For 50 Years Given Back His Ride

For 50 years, Thomas Weller, otherwise known as the “San Diego Highway Man” has been driving the highways of San Diego looking for people who need help. He’s been the guardian angel to countless people stranded by the roadside. He offers drivers gas, help changing a tire and a smile during their troubles.

Weller doesn’t accept any money and he always hands them a card that reads, “Assisting you has been my pleasure. Pass on the favor by helping someone in distress that you may encounter.”

But in 2011, someone crashed into his beloved “Beulah”, the ’55 Ford wagon he has been driving since 1966. The car was totaled and it was put in the garage ever since. When a man named Rick learned what Weller had been doing, he knew he wanted to restore Weller’s beloved car.
