Goldendoodle Helps Comfort Mourners At Funeral Home

As any dog owner will tell you, their dogs have a knack for knowing when to provide them comfort when they need it most. Lulu a Goldendoodle has the same skill, but she dispenses comfort to people who have lost a loved one. She has been certified and highly trained as a therapy dog for a Westchester County funeral home. They thought it would be a good idea to have a dog available for grieving families.

Lulu provides families with unconditional love and support, as well as a subtle distraction from their grief. Although extremely friendly and outgoing, Lulu is often seen lounging around the office and is only introduced to families upon their request.

When asked, Lulu will gladly welcome visitors at the door, or go and sit next to them and patiently wait to be petted. Simply her presence eases people’s pain.

“She’s a priceless gift for our staff and the families we serve,” said Matthew Fiorillo, CEO of the funeral home and Lulu’s owner. “We’re partners.”

“She has an uncanny knack for being able to spot people who need her,” Fiorillo added. “She gravitates to them. I can’t explain it, but it’s there.”

Comfort dogs like Lulu are such a blessing!
