Friends Rescue 19-Year-Old Shelter Dog to Help Her Enjoy Bucket List in Her Time Remaining

A 19-year-old dog was surrendered at a Dallas shelter. The only information the shelter got from the people who dropped Annie off was that was that the silver-furred black Labrador mix had stopped walking and eating and is 19 years old.

Shortly after Annie arrived at the Dallas Animal Services shelter, Lauren Siler spotted a photo of the senior dog as she was about to board a plane.

“I saw her sweet little face sitting in her poor little kennel,” Lauren told WFAA. Having fostered (kittens) before, she asked her roommate and friend Lisa, what she thought of Annie. When she showed Lisa Annie’s picture, Lisa said “we need her.”

They arranged to get Annie with the help of The PAWerful Rescue and brought Annie home, determined to make the dog as happy as she could be in her final days.

When they picked Annie up, they were told that she probably had only a month to live so they didn’t waste any time trying to learn what she liked and brainstorm a bucket list. That was 4 months ago. One thing for sure, Annie is loving all of her adventures.

The pair of friends say they don’t have any plans to stop spoiling Annie either. There’s no shortage of bucket list ideas as many of Annie’s friends on Instagram are giving her lots of treats and offering suggestions.

But sometimes, Annie simply enjoys the little things. Lauren revealed, “This girl loves to sit in the sunshine, roll in the grass and be a nosey neighbor on neighborhood stroller walks!

Annie is certainly getting treated well. It’s wonderful that she has a place to live out her days feeling safe and loved.
