Husky’s Motherly Love Saves Homeless Kitten’s Life

Lilo is a pretty unique mom, as far as huskies go. That’s because she loves being a surrogate mom to kittens. Her most recent “baby”, Rosie, was found homeless and on death’s door.

It was touch and go for Rosie on her first day home. “She almost did not make it through the first night…Even with round the clock care. She was lethargic and limp. So we decided to go out on a limb and let her cuddle extensively with Lilo,” Lilo’s family says on Instagram.

And it worked. Lilo and Rosie loved each other instantly and I bet Rosie pulled through, in part because of Lilo’s warm touch.

“A mother’s love overcomes any and all limitations. Even species limitations!” Lilo keeps Rosie under her wing.

Even though Rosie was sickly when they first rescued her, she immediately loved Lilo.

Lilo is a patient surrogate mom to the many rescue kittens her family brings in. She’s very sweet with them and let’s scamps like Rosie pounce on her nose!

Lilo’s human says it’s uncommon for the breed to be friendly with small animals.

“Huskies are notorious for their intense prey drive!!,” she writes. “So please please don’t run out and get a kitten (or a husky) expecting them to be best friends.”

“It is very uncommon for them to get along (without growing up with each other), so please protect your pets and make smart decisions bringing new ones home.” Even though she’s raised her huskies with cats and they get along, she still watches them very carefully. She does a great job. Look at this perfect pack!

Rosie’s first outing to the park! She’s so adventurous and confident, just like her mama.

After all the adventures in the day, it’s time for a nap.

What an adorable pair. No wonder their friendship has gone viral.
