Rescue Dogs Chase Off Man Who Attacked Two Women on Walking Trail
When two dog walkers spotted a man hiding in the bushes along a popular trail in Melbourne, Australia, they had no idea they were about to be attacked.
The two women, one 39-year-old and 67-year-old, were walking with their pack of 11 rescue dogs along the banks of Gardiners Creek in Kooyong when the man sprung at them.
Police say the man suddenly jumped out of the bushes and wrapped his arms around one of the women while making sexual comments. She managed to push him away, but he then tried to grab the other woman, who also managed to push him away.
That’s when the dogs took over. The loyal pups immediately chased the suspect down the trail and into a nearby tunnel beneath the Monash Freeway. Along the way, one brave Blue Heeler nipped at his ankles while another Blue Heeler tore off a piece of his pants as he fled.

Thankfully, both women escaped unharmed. The frightening encounter has made them more wary but they refuse to let it stop them from enjoying the park with the dogs. “I’m just going to have to be a little bit more cautious,” one of the women said. Police are continuing to search for the suspect and released a sketch of the alleged assailant.

Both were reluctant to be identified but said they were grateful that the dogs defended them.
The dogs proved that they were more than just walking companions—they were fearless protectors who sprang into action when their humans needed them most.
Anna Lindars, who witnessed the chase and aftermath, summed it up best, telling 7 News Australia, “Dogs will always defend you.”
