Police Officer Surprised By Mysterious “Survival Kit” He Finds On His Car

With the recent political unrest surrounding policing in the United States, law enforcement departments around the country are on edge. Random attacks on officers weigh heavy on the hearts of police officers and officers on duty are more cautious than they may have been in the past.

But one Orange County policeman recently got a surprise that brought joy to his entire department.

When he saw the blue ribbon on the bag he thought it would be safe to open. There was a kind message on the outside and on the inside…

…candy! Not only were there candies, but there was also a note explaining what each candy represented.

Lifesaver, to remind you of the many times you have been one
Smarties, to give you wisdom for those split second decisions
Starburst, for the burst of energy you need
Hershey’s Kisses, to show our love for you
Gum to help everyone stick together
Tootsie Roll, to help you roll with the punches
Peppermint Patty, to help you keep your cool
Dum Dum, because you deal with a lot of them
Pay Day, because you’re not doing it for the money
Laffy Taffy, to remind you that laughter is a great stress reliever

Someone put a lot of thought into their gift! The sheriff’s department thought so too and posted a response to Facebook, thanking the gift giver:

“Thank you to the Secret Santa in San Juan Capistrano that left a “survival kit for law enforcement officers” on the hood of an OCSD deputy’s car this weekend. You brought a much needed smile to our faces! We are honored to serve the OC community and appreciate your support.”

Share this thoughtful gift of appreciation for those who serve and protect with your friends and family!
