Strangers Do Not Help Little Girl On Street Because She Is Dirty In Social Experiment

What would you do if you saw a six year old alone in a public place? Would you stop and help? Would how she looks make a difference to you? That’s what UNICEF asks in their provocative social experiment, which calls into question how we treat children based on appearances.

Anano is 6-years-old and a child actor. Anano is asked to wander on the streets dressed in nice clothes. Initially, passers-by stop and try to help her. But when Anano is dressed in shabby clothes and has a dirty face, people’s reactions are completely different. This time, no one approached her or asks her if she needs help.

When they repeat the situation in a mall restaurant the outcome is even more heartbreaking. So much so, that Anano becomes too upset and they have to stop the experiment.

But what Anano experienced is what millions of children living in poverty experience every day, says UNICEF. Children are pushed aside and ignored. By making the video, the charity hopes that it inspires people to look past appearances and help those that are less fortunate.
