Woman’s Warning After Finding Shirt Wrapped On Her Car Window Goes Viral

A 19-year-old woman is warning others to be careful and “vigilant” after she found a shirt laid over her windshield in Flint, Michigan. She shared her experience on Facebook, and her warning is now being being widely shared by news outlets and investigated by police.

Ashley Hardacre had just finished working a closing shift at the mall and got into her car in the parking lot when she noticed a blue flannel shirt thrown over her windshield and tucked underneath a windshield wiper. She knew there was something odd about the situation right away.

Hardacre explained on Facebook:

“As some of you know, I work at a store in the Mall out in Flint. I worked a closing shift tonight so me and the girls I work with always walk out together to make sure we are safe in the parking lot. I got to my car and locked the doors behind me immediately as I always do and noticed that there was a blue flannel shirt on my windshield.”

“There were two cars near me and one was running so I immediately felt uneasy and knew I couldn’t get out to get it off. At first I thought maybe someone had just thrown it on my car for some odd reason.”

But when she tried to remove the shirt with her wipers, it wouldn’t budge.

“I used my windshield wipers to try to get them off but the shirt was completely wrapped around my wiper blade. I had seen posts lately about people finding things under their windshield wipers in the Burton/Flint area as an attempt to get girls out of their cars and distracted.”

“Luckily, I knew better than to remove the shirt with cars around me so I drove over to a place where I was safe and quickly rolled down my window and got the shirt off.”

“I don’t know why the shirt was on my car but it had to have been intentional the way it was put on there. I really can’t think of another reason as to why someone would put it on my car.”

Hardacre said that she is thankful her parents had warned her of people in the area trying to trick women into leaving their cars.

“It definitely frightened me a little bit I’m so glad my parents had informed me that it was happening in our area, I just never thought it would potentially happen to my car,” she wrote.

But as Hardacre further explained, you can never be too safe!

Hardacre is convinced the shirt did not get onto her windshield by accident, as it was buttoned open and wrapped around the wipers.

Since posting her story and picture, the post has been shared more than 100,000 times.

Her post came to the attention of the Flint Township Police Department, who is now reviewing surveillance video of the parking lot to see if they can spot who left the shirt on the teen’s car.

Hardacre said she will be asking security to escort her to her car at night after work from now on and advises others to be careful.

This is something everyone should know! Please be aware and share her warning and help keep your family and friends safe.
