Popeye was once a starving stray wandering the streets in desperate need of rescue. The poor Yorkie mix was matted and starving when Ivy Diep spotted him in a Los Angeles neighborhood in 2014. She picked him up and brought him home and adopted him.
Popeye now never has to worry about an empty stomach. He’s also always surrounded by food!
That’s because his mom takes him on “Instagram dates” where he accompanies Ivy on her outings to dog-friendly restaurants and bistros where she samples the food.
Ivy soon noticed that Popeye was really good around food. He would sit still for photos, which lead to her creating his popular Instagram account.

He doesn’t care much for the food, much preferring his own doggie treats.
But if the food is safe for Popeye’s sensitive tummy, Ivy will let him have a tiny taste.
She told ABC News, “He’s usually not really into the food anyway. He just likes to be out and about—people watching and to bark at any other dog that walks by.”
Thankfully, LA has lots of pet-friendly patios for Ivy and Popeye to enjoy!
