Story Of Child’s Journey Through Foster Care Is Emotionally Powerful

Many children placed into foster care have troubled pasts and often find it difficult to relate to their foster caregivers. Because of their experiences, they can act out because of anger, fear and sadness, resulting in them moving from one foster home to another.

This short film tells the story of a girl named Zoe, who is placed into the foster system after her father is arrested for abusing her mom. It’s a difficult journey for the girl, who is separated from her younger brother and everything and everyone she knows.

Originally created for the 168 Film Festival, ReMoved tries to imagine what the experience is like through the eyes of a child and follows Zoe on her emotional journey.

“It would be impossible to fully understand the life and emotions of a child going through the foster care system, but this short narrative film portrays that saga in a poetic light, with brushes of fear, anger, sadness, and a tiny bit of hope,” writes the Santa Barbara Independent.

As heartbreaking as Zoe’s story is, there’s a glimmer of hope at the end. And the performances and the message the short film shares is very powerful.
