Police Officer’s Kind Gesture Towards A Homeless Man Goes Viral

Every day there are people doing acts of kindness for others, they just don’t always get noticed. However, last week, a Florida woman named TiAnna noticed a police officer doing something she thought was worth sharing.

TiAnna was across the street from a Dunkin’ Donuts in Ocala when she noticed a cop had parked her squad car in the parking lot. The officer was sitting on the curb next to a homeless man. It turns out, PD Officer Sergeant Erica Hay with the Ocala Police Department had bought the homeless man breakfast and decided to sit and eat with him.

TiAnna was so moved by what she was witnessing, she took some photos and posted them on Facebook. “Although I was the only person blessed to witness less than two minutes of her kindness that definitely came from the heart, it truly made my morning,” TiAnna wrote.

Sgt. Hay was taken by surprise when the story went viral. The leader of the K-9 unit in her department was matter-of-fact about what she did, saying she simply noticed the man was sitting by himself, so she decided to buy him breakfast. She told the Ocala Post, “He turned out to be a very nice man who just has a sad story. He is a person.”

A simple truth and a great reminder to everyone that it does not take much effort to be kind, you just have to notice the person next to you!
