Police Officer Adopts Dog After Owner Tried To Break Her Neck

Police in Copley, Ohio were called to a dumpster when a maintenance worker found a little dog inside. The dog, now named Honey, was still alive but that was no thanks to her owner who police learned tried to kill her.

The 22-year-old woman told police that the dog had bitten her boyfriend a couple of times and that it was time for the dog to go. She didn’t have money to euthanize Honey so tried to do it herself by attempting to break Honey’s neck. She then dumped the dog in the bin behind her apartment.

Miraculously, Honey pulled through unscathed! It was while recovering at the vet hospital that another miracle occurred.

She met Copley Police Officer Chris Santimarino, who instantly knew he wanted to give Honey a home. Already a dog owner, Santimarino says his dogs are just like his kids. He couldn’t believe what had happened to Honey.

Honey’s former owner is now spending the next 180 days in jail for animal cruelty. As for Honey? “She’s smiling… she does that,” says Officer Santimarino. “And she’s now part of our family.”

Share Honey’s happy ending with your friends and fellow dog lovers!
