Mischievous Cathedral Cat Crashes Sermons…And Breakfasts

A mischievous cat who stole some milk during the Dean of Canterbury Cathedral’s morning sermon became a viral sensation. But he wasn’t satisfied with just milk, he helped himself to pancakes too.

During the COVID pandemic, Dean Robert Willis of Canterbury Cathedral provided online sermons until one day Tiger stole the spotlight.

Tiger, one of the Cathedral cats, casually strolled into the frame mid-sermon and helped himself to the Dean’s milk—paw first. The moment went viral, with viewers around the world falling in love with the cheeky feline.

Willis observed this calmly, letting the cat continue to drink. (You can watch a longer video of Tiger’s milk snack at the end of this article.)

But Tiger wasn’t done. In another sermon, he decided it was Pancake Day for him too and helped himself to breakfast while the Dean kept reading, totally unbothered.

The dean said, “Well Tiger has found some breakfast, it’s Pancake Day for him as well so we’re not too sorry about that.”

Dean Willis, who served at the Cathedral for 20 years, passed away in November 2024. His calm presence, and his cats’ unforgettable cameos, left a lasting mark during a time when people needed comfort and a good laugh.
