Ikea Turned 10 Children’s Drawings Into Plush Toys To Help Kids In Poverty

Every year, the IKEA Foundation has a creative project that involves children in helping design for a good cause.

The company takes drawings from kids all around the world, and pick a few that they make into plush toys, the proceeds of which help children’s charities.

For 2015’s Soft Toys for Education campaign they received thousands of drawings and had the challenge of picking just 10 to go into production.

IKEA donates €1 for every soft toy sold in participating IKEA stores in November and December.

The donation goes to Save the Children and UNICEF, and is spent on children’s educational projects.

The children with the selected designs are the first to see their creations come to life, but it’s what is done with the money raised that’s really life-giving.

Since 2003, the Soft Toys for Education campaign has raised nearly €77 million euros.

The funds have helped support 99 projects in 46 countries and reached more than 11 million children living in poverty, receive a better education.

The IKEA Foundation writes, “Education represents an opportunity, and it empowers children with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to shape a better future for themselves.”
