Pool safety is always important, but it’s especially important for adults to be vigilant when young children and pets are around the pool. The advice applies for pets of all sizes, as this pet owner discovered the hard way when his horse, Stormy, fell into the family’s swimming pool in Arizona.
Stormy was in the backyard when one of the family’s grandchildren threw a ball for the dogs, which spooked Stormy and he ran and fell into the pool and couldn’t get out. Mesa Fire Department firefighters called a veterinarian who tranquilized Stormy so that they could lift him out safely. Stormy was pulled out and, except for a few scratches, was unharmed. However, Stormy’s owner said he plans on erecting a fence so no accidents like this happen ever again.
