Helpless Kitten On Ledge Of Apartment Saved By Officer

A kitten that was spotted helplessly stuck on the outside ledge of an apartment is lucky to be alive thanks to the quick action of an officer with The Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Singapore. The humane society received a call from a concerned member of the public, notifying them of the kitten perched on the ledge of a unit twelve storeys up!

When the rescue officer, Yao Huang, arrived at the block, there were already two officers from Ang Mo Kio North neighborhood police center there. Yao Huang went to the 12th floor, while the police officers remained on the ground floor with an opened blanket, in case the kitten fell down.

With a camera on the end of his catch pole, Huang carefully tries to ensnare the kitten and lift him to safety.

After the rescue, the kitten was reunited with his owner and Huang made sure to advise the new pet owner to mesh up their windows and secure their gate to prevent the kitten from falling out of the windows. Cats and kittens are at risk of falling out of open windows because, being curious animals, they may chase a bird flying past or want to peek outside.

Watch the heart-pounding rescue mission in the video below and share it with your friends as a reminder for cat owners to secure their balconies and windows!
