Frat Brothers Bring Friendship And Cheer To Brave Girl Fighting Cancer

Lexi is a 12-year-old girl fighting for her life against cancer. She recently spent some time at the Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA in California to have her cancer treated. To pass the time, Lexi and her mom put a sign in the window asking for pizza delivery. They did it for fun, little knowing that the message would be spotted by some young men at a UCLA frat house located directly across from the hospital and that those guys decided to do something about it.

“Five guys come in, and they had a guitar and dozen roses and a box of pizza,” mom Lisa told NBC News. “They introduced themselves and said, ‘We saw your sign; we’re here.’ They stayed for a half an hour, they sang this song and I started bawling my head off. I’m like, ‘I can’t believe these people are here for my child.’”

The good cheer didn’t end there. When SAE member Chase Gasper learned that Lexi loved soccer he texted his teammates on the Men’s Soccer Team at UCLA asking if they’d come by for a visit. They brought her swag and tickets to one of her games.

And the SAE members also decided to do something special for her with their frat house holiday light display. They asked her to look out her hospital window when it got dark outside, and there, emblazoned on the roof was her name in lights.

They used purple lights – Lexi’s favorite color – and a flashing, beating heart. “I thought it was really cool,” said Lexi. “I didn’t think that that would ever happen.”

Lexi is now back home, but the brothers plan on keeping the lights dedicated to her hung through the holiday season. The SAE members from across the country are also helping raise money to help Lexi’s family pay her hospital bills.

What an amazing example of how special friendships can be born from difficult circumstances. Share this touching story with your friends and family!
