Fire Ants Can Form Into Giant Balls That Act Just Like Jell-O

Did you know that fire ants can self-assemble into shapes? Researchers from Georgia Tech shows how the ants can swarm together to form shapes that help them survive and hunt. For example in a flood they can form a raft!

They have such a powerful grip that they turn themselves into a semi-solid structure.

The researchers compare the ants’ behavior to Jell-O. Of course, most people that encounter fire ants will tell you they have a nasty bite, so it’s best to avoid them if you can!

Watch and see the incredible activity in the video below and share it with your family and friends!
