Fallen Soldier Honored With Never-Ending Toast At Restaurant

Brian Avey was serving at Tacoma Buffalo Wild Wings when a woman came in and ordered two beers, a Blue Moon and a Corona. At first, Brian told her that she couldn’t order two beers because of Washington state law. That’s when she told Brian that the Corona was for her brother who died in Iraq. Brian kindly handed her the second beer.

“It just sat next her at an empty seat her entire Lunch,” Avey wrote on his Facebook page. “When I brought her bill I told her Buffalo Wild Wings will be buying that beer…”

After she left, Brian noticed she had written a note on her receipt: “Thank you. An act of kindness goes a long way. It means a lot to me. Have a great rest of your day.” – A Grateful Soldier

Brian didn’t have the heart to throw away the beer and  told his bar manager Dan what had happened. That’s when Dan decided they’d keep the beer on the bar, as way to salute and toast the fallen soldier. He told Brian, they’d keep it, as long as Brian changed out the lime every day.

Since then, the beer sits next to an American flag in the restaurant and Dan told a local news station that they’ve been getting calls of thanks from all over the world. It’s wonderful to see how such a small gesture of kindness can ripple into something so much bigger!
