Emaciated Dog Found In Sewer Opens His Heart To Foster Family

A starving dog found in a sewer drain has a brand-new life, thanks to a foster family who helped rescue him. Phelps was discovered in the drain and no one knew how long he had been trapped down there. His paws were injured, and gangrene had spread to his tail. Crystal, a dog rescuer and foster caregiver, noticed that Phelps immediately began to feel better after his tail was amputated.

When she brought him home, he was hesitant at first—he didn’t know anything about living in a home or what toys were. But as soon as Crystal gave him toys, he began to open up. He also started to bond with Kato, their husky.

As Phelps continued to heal, he grew closer to the entire family—so much so that he became a “foster fail” and is now a permanent member of the family.
