Dying Soldier Sings ‘Tell My Father’ With With His Son In Emotional Performance

In spite of his battle with stage four cancer, Lt. Col. Mark Weber of the Minnesota National Guard sang “Tell My Father”, a Civil War era song, with his son at the Minnesota History Center in Saint Paul on June 14 in 2012.

Prior to their performance at the event commemorating the Army’s birthday, Weber gave a moving speech and also showed off his wonderful sense of humor. He referred to his inoperable cancer as “Beuford” and joking said that “he” was an uninvited guest that was keeping his life “interesting”.

He later added, “I got another uninvited guest in the back row…His name is Death. And I mention him because I see him, and I hear him at least once a month. And he whispers something in my ear I’d like to pass along to each of you: He says, ‘Live. Because I am coming.’”

Singing with his son was definitely one of those loving, living moments. Weber passed away a year later of gastrointestinal cancer. He was 41.

Please share this emotional moment with your loved ones!
